Can Horror Feel Cozy?

This piece brings together two feelings that are usually treated as opposites: comfort and fear. The chai, the shared moment, and the line “Those are my favorite nights with you” feel intimate and familiar. The skeletal hands, bats, hanging lines, and dark atmosphere introduce something more unsettling. Neither side completely takes over.

The typography follows the same tension. The large serif letters feel dramatic and cinematic, while the italic and softens the title and makes it feel more personal. Rather than using the expected black, white, and blood-red palette of horror, the earthy greens, browns, and warm cream make the scene feel lived-in and comforting.
